The meaning of Mahamantra
Supreme-Grace-Light, Supreme-Grace-Light
Supreme-Compassion-Unique, Supreme-Grace-Light
All can be done; I swear, praise the omnipotent Lord in the Sanctum!
When will it come today, tomorrow or any other day? I don’t know my Lord;
When will I get rid of attachment to the impurities of awful illusory desires,
And transcend the space within Space and quietly be in the peaceful delight
Of stillness absolute – the bliss out of fulfillment in the plenitude of the Absolute?
O Mountain, who can be grasped by Love!
O King, who comes to the hut of Love!
O Absolute, be caught in the net of Love!
O Ambrosia, who takes a seat in the hand of Love!
O Ocean, who gets constricted into the pot of Love!
O Knowledge, who shines in the self-light of Love!
O Supreme Light, who abides in the atom of Love!
O Love, is the form of the Universal Godhead!
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 111 to 124
Arutperunjyothi is both the Father and the Mother as One,
Who never for a fraction of second separated throughout all my births – existence.
Arutperunjyothi is the Gnosis of my knowledge, in the divine wisdom of soul,
The sense of separableness is not known at all, He is that greatest Supreme One.
Arutperunjyothi is the Source that has no beginning and end,
The caste and the religions and the cult and the sect have seen It not.
Arutperunjyothi is the knowable in the experience when one
Rises above the instruments and the senses of the body and the mind.
Arutperunjyothi is beyond the experience of contemplative and mental awareness –
The phenomenal perceptions as well as above and beyond all awareness.
Arutperunjyothi is realised only in the consciousness of equanimity to all,
Otherwise manifests not in the differentiating consciousness of separateness.
Arutperunjyothi is the immeasurable Infinite known only in the secrecy
Of realisation and not by any other means to measure the immeasurable One.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 199 to 200
O Arutperunjyothi, may Thou, with the luminous Divine Form along with
The Divine Conscious-Force merge with my Spirit to radiate the Light.
NB: The beginning of the couplet starts with “Devi”. Goddess is called “Devi” in Indian language – the Divine Mother who is the Divine Conscious-Force and Energy.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 723 to 724
Arutperunjyothi, may Thou bestow Thy Grace and protect
The beings who have taken birth in their mother’s womb.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 731 to 732
O Arutperunjyothi, may Thou bestow Thy Grace to protect with strength
The organs of body from diseases and the body of the spirit from spoilages.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 813 to 832
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the divine sovereignty
With the black veil of an afflictive Illusion gigantically,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the soul-life, – the Spirit,
The central being with the blue veil of deep ignorance,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the great cosmic Space,
The Space as Divine with the blue veil of intimidation,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the Space of intelligence,
The power of Knowledge awesomely with the red veil,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the Space of materiality,
And the objects with the golden veil of negation of identity,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the Space of Supreme Being,
As well the indwelling Lord so closely with the white veil,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the cognitive experience
With the obscurity and confusion with the mixed colour veil,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest the object of senses,
The cause and effect with the various kinds of veil densely,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou hidest all the state of tattvas,
The principles, according to its nature with separate veils,
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou castest-off all the veils and showest
There Thy sovereign rule – Thy manifestation in everything!
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 875 to 880
It is two in the one, and it is two of the one,
It is one in the one, O, it is one and the one only;
It is neither one nor two nor the two is of the one,
Nor it is one in the one, O, it is one and the one only;
There is one in the one and there is no one in the one,
But become the Whole in the unalterable Oneness,
O Thou art That, it is one and the one only, O the One!
Note: The One is the Supreme-Grace-Light Divine.
Or it can be put like this:
Thou art the two in the one, and two of the one,
And one within the one, O Thou art one and the one only!
Thou art neither one nor two nor two of the one
Nor one within the one, O Thou art one and the one only!
Thou art one in the one yet not one in the one,
But become the Whole in the unalterable Oneness,
O Thou art That, O Thou art one and the one only!
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 967 to 968
O, the true Divine Lord, Thou toldest many times to me:
The non-killing principle is the principle of the Guru’s Grace*.
Note: The Supreme Divine is the Guru – it is the Divine Grace.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 979 to 980
O Divine Lord, Thou bestowest Thy Grace by saying: This is the truth;
All can happen if Grace is attained, therefore try to attain the Grace.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 1170 to 1171
O Protector, any evil things from anywhere affect me not,
I seek Thy refuge; really guard me day and night always.
Thiruarutpa 6:3273 – Arutperunjyothi Agaval – Lines 1321 to 1322
O, the divine medicine of the Grace has prevented the attacks
Of all the diseases of the body as well as all the diseases of the spirit.
Note: The diseases of the spirit are death, ego, karma, maya, etc.
Arutperunjyoti Attagam
(A set of eight hymns in praise of Arutperunjyothi Andavar)
O Lord, Thou art the supreme Form of Grace, the Highest Holiness of Grace,
In the state above the Vast-Grace-Space and the Vast-Grace-World,
And the Vast-Grace-Plane, Thou takest the seat on the supreme Grace pedestal,
O Arutperunjyothi, my Lord, Thou art the Supreme Lord of Grace,
The supreme Treasure, my Nectar of the supreme Siddhi of Grace,
The supreme Delight of Grace and the joyous supreme Bliss of Grace.
O Arutperunjyoti, my Lord, Thou manifesttest immeasurably
And imperishably in each and everything, Thou art the bliss
Of Truth-Knowledge inseparably present within and without
And above everything. Thou art present in the gleaming universe,
In all the millions of universes in the infinite space, and in all beings
And the host of material things that exist thereupon.
The eyes and the organs of sense1, and the mind and the instruments of sense2,
The primordial Nature’s characteristic features and the great knowledge
Of the Self, expression of consciousness which goes higher and higher3,
The knowledge of higher worlds and Para-shakti and beyond all4
Cannot absolutely know Thee – the Absolute, O Thou art praised
And exalted by those who realised it, O Arutperunjyothi, Thou art my Lord.
Notes:
1. The five organs of sense:
Mey (Body), Vay (Mouth), Kan (Eye), Mookku (Nose), Cevi (Ear)
2. Instruments of sense – Intelligence, cognition, mind.
3. The universal consciousness
4. The universal and transcendental knowledge
The silence of Suddha Vedanta or the secret of Suddha Siddhantha
Or the experience of the state of eternal Nathantha or above the end
Of any other state or like the fresh nectar of the egalitarian principle,
Yet do not know the significance of the Absolute, those who realised
So praise Thee and keep praising Thee, O Arutperunjyothi, my Lord.
It is not One nor is it Many nor is it Nature or artificial nor is it consciousness
Or physical body nor is it general or special nor is it feminine or lustrous
Masculine or genderless nor is it union or separateness nor is it Light or Space,
How can the Absolute be expressed is what those who have realised feel
And praise Thee fervently from their heart, O Arutperunjyothi, my Lord.
O Lord, those who realised this praise Thee: All Tattvas were passed
Through independently and in the state above transcending Tattvas,
All nature of the siddhis is known, and above it, went ahead to know
The Divine state, in that state of Oneness, myself and my consciousness
Were thawed and become one. O Arutperunjyothi, Thou art my Lord.
O Arutperunjyoti, Thou art my Lord, Thou art manifest everywhere
Thou cannot be expressed neither this nor that in the Chir-Sabhai,
And Thou bestowest the everlasting natural realisation
And transformest myself into Thee, and Thou makest me to enjoy
The surging bliss and drink the new nectar, in my heart like a fruit
In the hand, takest Thy seat and bestowest Thy Grace on me.
End of Arutperunjyothi Attagam
THE OPENING OF THE DIVINE DOOR
(a prayer to the Supreme Divine – Arutperunjyothi)
O, the Supreme Lord, may the divine Door be open,
may the veils be cast-off,
May Thou showest me Thy divine Form
of the Supreme-Light that is Divine Grace.
May Thou bestowest on me the Truth-Consciousness
that transforms the life and body and mind
And heart into the Light, and may the nectar melt
and flow from the spring into all my being.
O, the unique Body, may Thy sole Form
enter into me and become one
With me as to make me blissful day and night always.
O, the King of Perfection, Thou who bestowest Thy Grace
on those who are not self-conceited,
O, the supernal Light, the cause of the worlds,
Thou art my Lord of the Divine Play.
To become the complete embodiment of compassion and by Thy Grace timely releieve others from their deep afflictions and fears to give them happiness, and lead the world vigorously by the great principle without these two violent acts of killing and taking non-vegetarian food. And to ardently praise Thy glory and sing the songs of Thy benedictions in the Sanctuary! It is for this, O my Lord, I aspire ardently!
Thiruarutpa 6:3543 (Part)
Whenever I saw withered crops, I too withered.
O Supreme Lord, I follow as Thou toldest me,
“See the significance of Compassion as Divine
In the panorama of manifestation and know
That all else a principle of ignorance and illusion.”
O Lord, what can I do, I am afflicted by darkness,
Illusion and deeds bad, and I take the pains of it.
Although I’m perplexed without the wisdom
But I followed not the lesser principle indeed!
In the state of body without disease, mind without defect, discipline without falsehood,
And without sleep, day and night, I wished to praise Thee with my profound thoughts!
I may eat, I may wear clothes but I have not reposed my faith on the worldly people,
O my Friend, the good One who bestows welfare, only I trust Thee, don’t forsake me.
Those days, this little man thinking and longing for Thy Grace stood tired and wept at one side in the sanctum, because of my great Tapas of the past days, with the blossomed face Thou toldest me the words of Grace, thinking of that, so many days delightedly I looked forward to that great day – the Day of the Divine and my thoughts blossomed; that propitious and prosperous Day of the Divine is this day, so I beseeched Thee to bestow Thy Grace, O even before beseeching Thou hast bestowed, O the immensity of Thy Love – the greatness of Thy loftiest divine character “the infinite Love” is great!
O Sarguru, Thou saidest me that don’t be amazed in hearing this: “There is only one refulgent Divine for all the places and all the living beings, I swear, my son, there is no two; you should know that in the good places, along with the Grace it is two.”
O Absolute, Thou showest as if Thou satest somewhere as well as near by, and Thou art fulfilled here and there, and apart from that everywhere.
O the Dancing Master of Flame, Thou art manifest in the Chir-Sabhai as well as Pour-Sabhai, do wear my words of garland!
Note: The One means Sivam and the Two means Sivam and Arut-Shaththi (the Divine and the Grace-Force/Power). The Absolute becomes the two yet one in the unalterable Oneness in the manifestation – for He is there as the Divine and Arut-Shaththi inseparable –– It is supreme One Reality. He is That!
O Wise Father, the Supreme-Light, Thou toldest me
With Thy Will to enlighten me, “The qualities of Vedagamas,
Puranas, Ithihasas are illusive and deceptive, and so obscure,
So hard to perceive it, says the common man. The demon knows
That there is only one book illusive. Whereas my son, you know
That all books* are illusive and deceptive, and see all contents
In the Grace-Light.” O dancing Master, Thou who praisest
By the wise who know not the separateness, do wear my garland.
* Scriptures
Thirup-palli-ezhutchi
(The Rising of the Divine to Manifest)
O, the dawn has set in, my lotus-heart blooms
And the Golden Light manifests everywhere!
All are adoring Thee; Thou lettest know all
The work to be done, O my mighty Sarguru.
‘Thou art the Absolute’ thus praise the Agamas and
The Vedas Thy glory, O the One who leads in front!
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou art inexplicable in words,
O Father, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
Banished is the Maya – the illusion’s bad disposition.
And the ray of the Golden Light dawned – descended
The supreme intelligence to bring forth the Wisdom,
The good-natured members of Sanmarga Sangham
Gathered and are approaching and glorifying Thee,
And praying Thee for to attain the great Siddhis.
O my Arutperunjyothi, who conferred the great merits,
O my Mother, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
It is dawning, as the day set in, ended is the dark time
And appeared the eternal Golden Light, there is
A celestial sound of conch too, full-blown is the lotus,
Perished is the darkness of ego, and the murky illusion
Ceases to exist – the Night of illusion disappeared.
Devotees joined together to glorify Thee, ‘Glory to Siva,
Glory to Siva – Siva, Siva porttri, Siva, Siva porttri ’
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou conferred radiant exaltation,
O my Guru, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
O, it is wonderful to see, in the presence of Golden Light,
Even the stony mind is thawed and the Night dispelled.
Many devoted servitors are present here and they are singing
Devotionally and dancing joyously. O Thy holiness, my Lord,
Holy people, jnanis, yogis – mystics, saints, sages and others
Are all gathered and ardently adoring and worshipping Thee.
O Omnipotent Lord, my Arutperunjyothi Almighty,
My Supreme Lord, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
The dim evening twilight faded away,
There shine on the mountain of Wisdom
The Golden Rays. The saints and poets composed
A garland of words praising Thee, the members
Of Suddha Sanmarga Sangham throng around.
The celestials came near saying, ‘Glory to Thee’
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou wearest my garland,
O my Lord, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
“May all the worlds harmoniously rise in oneness”;
Thus the trumpet blows, and the Sangham as well.
The saints and sages besieged there; they highly praised
The Samarasa Suddha Sanmargam and feel glory in that!
O Lord, Thou art great and simple yet above it!
Thou who performest siddhi in the supreme Sanctuary;
O my Arutperunjyothi, Thou bestowest this present life,
O my King, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
Devotees brought flower buds, garlands and bouquets
And they’re delighted in singing Thy glory–siva siva porttri.
The holy people are expecting to take the pure nectar
And they say, ‘It is time now, it is time to take nectar.’
Thou educatest me not in baleful arts but beautifully
Educated me on deathlessness and removed all defects of being
And awakened the consciousness for me to manifest the Divine,
O my Father, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
Those who are affected by religious madness are all
Dumbstruck and came here and could not open their mouths,
Those who are afflicted by anger are terribly suffering
From terminal illness and they too are gathered and crying.
Those who followed the path of Supreme Light are singing
The divine songs and dancing with adoration of the Divine;
O Arutperunjyothi, Thou holdest and rulest my heart;
O my Mother, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
O Lord, the ignorance and illusion are exterminated.
Religions have shut their mouths, and the lotus bloomed!
The devotees are adorning the shrine where the Grace-Light
Manifests for Thee to take Thy throne to shine forth beautifully,
And Thou bestowest on me Thy Grace to prosper ever more
With the divine Wisdom and to perform all acts of supernal Power,
And Thou obliteratest darkness and ruled me, O Arutperunjyothi,
O my Munificent Lord, rise to manifest Thyself as bestowal of Grace.
We are adorning the shrine that Thou may abide
And transform by the Grace-Light our mortality
Into deathless bodily life of power and strength.
It is for that we Thy slaves glorify Thee and pray
Before Thee; the change has come for the divinity
And the dawn has set in, it is time now, come fast,
Bestow on us – this is the bright and right moment.
O my Arutperunjyothi, my Father, rise to manifest.
Even when I was vexed by the perturbation of Illusion,
O benevolent, the Omnipresent, I held Thee in esteem
And regarded all others only as Thy shadowy images,
O Supreme Lord, have I thought anything else than that.
O pure Golden Feet, I know not what Thou thinkest,
I shall not even for a moment hold in affliction here,
O Lord, I beseech Thee, free me from all bewilderments
And bestow on me Thy Grace; may it be Thy obligation!
Thiruarutpa 6:4537 (Part)
The compassionate Lord of the supreme Grace-Light bestows the Grace on those who offer their divine service sincerely.
It is time to transform all the people
of the world, whose inner being is in darkness
And outer seemingly white, and lead them
to become part of Sanmarga Sangham
For them to become divine and enjoy
the eternal Bliss in this life itself on Earth.
It is for that God has sent me to this world,
and I am blessed with the Grace.
Glory to my Master; eternal glory to my Lord’s Truth of Grace,
Glory to my Father’s greatness, glory to my Guru’s lotus feet,
May you prosper with goodness of true Suddha Sanmarga principle great,
May the Earth, celestial world and all other become prosperous and glorious.
NB: The words – Master, Lord, Father, and Guru are addressed to the Supreme Divine – the Arutperunjyothi Almighty.
O the contemplating mind, all the dark days have passed,
You don’t be in anxiety even a little bit. From now onwards,
The supreme Lord of Play, the compassionate One grants the days
That I would burgeon forth the Supreme-Grace-Light and manifest
To make this whole world happy, and these are the glorious days.
Yes, there is no doubt on this; this is sure, let the world knows it,
Don’t hesitate and don’t think of announcing it in the future date,
In the coming days you shall be fulfilled with joyous ecstasy.
My Lord who can do all bestows on me all the welfares.
He has become all and dancing – manifesting naturally, –
He has become one with all lovingly and delightedly.
The mother of concealment and obscuration was evicted,
And loving me, the Mother of Arut-Sakthi entered me,
And in this birth she removed from me the Mamayai, thereafter, attained
The golden Form, for me there is no darkness and death forever.
Note:
The mother of concealment and obscuration is Siva’s Energy which provides worldly experiences for the souls, hiding spiritual truths from view and experiences.
Arut-Sakthi – the Grace-Force
Mamayai – the greater Illusion
I have realised that there is only One Divine,
And by that realisation have attained the Truth-Knowledge,
And also all the Siddhis of the Truth were well attained.
That’s the result of Bhakti1 of the Dancing Master of Ambalam2.
1. Bhakti: The Love for the Divine, the adoration of the Supreme Lord
2. Ambalam: the Supreme Sanctuary, the Supreme Abode
Expelled is the affliction and bestowed is the Grace,
For this, the Glory goes to Thee, O the great One!
Shall I call Thee the glorious Mother?
Or shall I call Thee the great Father,
Or shall I call Thee the esteemed Guru,
Or shall I call Thee the supreme Divine?
What shall I call Thee, How shall I express Thy Glory?
I don’t know at all; don’t know at all*, O the great One!
* Repetition added
He who compassionately treats all living beings equally is a blessed man of great virtue and his all actions are nothing but the action of the Divine Grace here, that is what I came to know, and he serves cheerfully with the impeccable Divine Principle, it is very pleasing and my words (mouth) are yearning for praising his greatness.
He who within himself has by nature the joy of harmonious living of the Oneness by regarding all living beings as his own self without any slightest differentiation, his mind* is the place where my Lord manifests as pure Intelligence, that is what I came to know, and my thoughts are yearning to serve at the feet of such a wise one.
* mind of the heart or heart of the mind
He who becomes the sole form of compassion, sees in every living being his own self, in the wisdom of the Truth-Knowledge principle, follows the great law of the Suddha Siva Sanmargam, the true law of Reality, is a man of good nature and calm disposition and great spiritual merit – the divine qualities, and know that the words uttered by him are the beginning and the end* of the Grace Principle of the Scriptures – the Veda Agamas.
* the first and the last words
May Thou bestowest the Grace on me to live happily
with sustainable form–the deathless body,
And may I ever flourish with Grace and love
and excellence, and may the prosperity stay on.
For to make all the beings on Earth happy,
Thou ever manifestest as Guru with the natural form
Of Divine Grace in the supernal Plane,
O Sarguru, the Supreme, glory to Thy majestic Feet!
O Divine Father, there is no one anywhere who can embrace except Thee,
O Jove! there is no one anywhere who can bestow the Grace except Thee,
O, for all the people, there is no Divinity without Thee.
O, I desire only Thee, not anything worldly at all.
The Divine is coming to bestow on me the Body of Bliss,
The almighty Siddha who can do everything is coming here,
The God of nectar who is the sweetness of the lover’s heart is coming,
The celestial Lord who dances in the transcendental Abode is coming,
He comes with a Will to transform my body into a golden body,
That is the announcement by a musical sound of a celestial trumpet,
This mystical music symbolic that extirpates sorrows you too hearken
And share the nectar in my company, O dear, my dear friend!
Look, this is the word of the Lord of Truth that I utter,
There is no doubt on this, be delighted,
This day itself the Grace-Light shall appear,
And the days that follow are the days of happiness,
The Suddha Shiva Sanmargam shall manifest and the entire world
Shall be purified and all thy words shall come true,
The dead shall rise and walk with happiness in the world
And the ideal governance of Divine Grace shall be everywhere!
